Banks across Europe are on high alert for a possible cyberattack

The authorities are calling on financial institutions to urgently take an expanded stance on cybersecurity.

Experts have warned that there are two types of attacks. Or hackers will try to disable the bank’s software systems by mass-mailing millions of emails so that the system crashes and can no longer serve customers. Or, in the second case, the attack of hackers will be aimed at stealing customer data.

A Scottish university has been subject to a cyber attack

Heriot Watt University discovered a security breach in mid-March.

The University said the incident was “contained immediately”, staff and students were directed to “alternative systems” after the cyberattack. Now the university is working with police and specialized advisers to determine the cause of the breach.
