The Central Bank of Lesotho was
subject to a cyber attack, resulting in serious interruptions in its work. According to bank representatives, the attack, which occurred on December 11, 2023, affected several systems.
The bank has investigated the matter and is working around the clock to restore systems, the bank said on Tuesday. An investigation was launched immediately after the incident was discovered. According to the bank’s statement, the attack did not cause financial or other losses.
However, as a result of the attack, the work of the National Payment System was suspended, which is why interbank transactions became temporarily unavailable for all local banks.
